What changes during compression

Each page is rendered to an image at a scale matched to your chosen quality level, then re-embedded into a new PDF. This means text becomes part of a flattened image rather than staying selectable — a trade-off worth knowing if you need to copy text from the output afterward.

Will the compressed PDF still be searchable?

No — because pages are flattened to images during compression, text in the output PDF won't be selectable or searchable. If you need a smaller file that keeps live text, try removing embedded images instead of full compression.

How much smaller will my file get?

It depends heavily on the original content — image-heavy PDFs shrink the most, while already-compact text PDFs may see a smaller reduction. The tool shows you the before/after size for every file once it finishes.
